07/10/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National East Bailey had a solid showing at the event in the OF with the makings of a special type player at the next level. At the plate is where he showed best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. The baseball explodes off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 1 for 4. In the OF, he displays proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind in playing through with momentum to his target. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases foot quickness. Arm strength is outstanding as indicated by his top velocity of 86 mph at the arm strength station with throws displaying life, accuracy, and on line carry.

01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament This strong righty continues to impress with the stick. Offensively, he stands in tall with a solid base. He works back into a strong loaded/launch position and is ready to jump on the first pitch that he sees. He turns on the pitch on the inner 1/2 and pulls it with pop as the ball jumps off of his barrel. In the OF, he takes a quick first step as he works into position behind the fly-ball. Exchange is clean with strong/accurate throws into his target. This 2016 grad has a solid all-around skill set and will is one to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.

11/16/2014 - College PREP - Germantown (Memphis), TN Donnel is a strong, athletic OF that will graduate in 2016 with a projectable frame. At the plate is where he shows best displaying outstanding hitting abilities with well above average power potential through an athletic setup with balance. Hands are quick, generating bat speed to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off bat when centered, displaying gap to gap power. In the OF, he utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles to track balls down. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls, playing through well. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program and improve foot work to through to improve arm grade. With 2 years to further develop, Donnel has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
