Official Scouting Report

07/20/2014 - California Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Donny is a very coachable player who is respectful and hustles all the time. As an infielder he makes routine plays, has decent arm strength and is accurate to target. He needs to present glove sooner, play through more and increase lateral quickness/agility. On the mound Donny showed a good gathering point; he finishes with extension and throws strikes. Improvement can be made by staying in-line to target, strengthen arm and develop off-speed pitches. At the plate Donny has an aggressive approach, tracks well and showed good balance. He can improve by loading sooner, striding at pitcher and driving lower half.

06/24/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Bellevue (Seattle), WA Denny is 2-way player as a 3B/RHP. With the bat, this RHH shows a square setup with centered balance. He swings on a level path and works the middle of the field. At 3B, Denny hustles into position behind the ground ball. He has a clean exchange and works in-line toward 1B. On the bump, this RHP throws his FB from a low 3/4 arm slot. He uses his lower 1/2 to drive off of the rubber and follows through well. FB ranges from 53-55 mph as he throws strikes. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Lower 1/2 drive
2. Contact points
Defense
1. Arm strength
2. Play through ball
Pitching
1. Balance point
2. Extension

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
