03/21/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Dayton, OH Donovan continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Receiving/blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting abilities through an open setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Donovan has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

08/04/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Dublin (Columbus), OH Donovan lowered pop times (2.25 seconds), improved catching grades, and raised arm velocity to 74 MPH during his last workout with The Factory. Behind the plate, Donovan sits in low and athletically and shows solid footwork. He keeps his eyes to the ball, blocks and receives well, and has a short arm action to 2nd base. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
