Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

04/11/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Orange (Los Angeles), CA Doran is a 2026 2B/RHP. Small frame thin build with some strength present with plenty of time to fill out as he develops. Primary 2B stays in front of the baseball well and makes routine plays. Tracks ball well into glove with a low funnel. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity 57mph. Secondary RHP, who does a good job of gathering over rubber with good direction to plate. Young pitcher who incorporates lower half and competes on the mound. Doran throws a FB with slight movement, an 11/5 shaped CB, and a developing changeup. Doran needs to incorporate a long toss and J-band program to increase arm strength and accuracy. Right-handed hitter uses an upright and athletic stance. Simple load and balanced swing allows him to spray line drives to all fields. Continued growth and development should help him in his high baseball career and beyond.

11/21/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Irvine (Los Angeles), CA Doran continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 52 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/15/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Thousand Oaks, CA Doran is a young, 2-way player who plays 2nd base and RHP. Defensively, Doran has efficient footwork to the ball, he centers it well, and makes plays. He has a good 1st step, funnels properly, and throws with a short/accurate arm to his target. On the mound, Doran has good balance, he separates his hands on time, and he gets good arm extension toward home plate. He lands in a square position, finishes completely, and competes in the zone. Offensively, Doran has a square stance, a short stride, and he loads well. He has good hand eye coordination, a level swing, and he uses his lower body. Overall skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

1. Range
2. Fielding position
3. Arm strength
Pitching
1. Arm strength
2. Rhythm
3. Lower body

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
