06/09/2019 - College PREP - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Douglas is a strong C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Douglas shows quick footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through the 2B bag. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He gets back into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact to all fields. Overall, Douglas is a talented prospect who should find success going into his junior season.

06/10/2018 - College PREP - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Douglas is an athletic catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he utilizes his feet well in working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.01-2.12 with accuracy on his throws. Time will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He displays a soft glove and sticks balls well in the zone. He uses his body through the blocking process and is a wall behind the plate. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and flashes gap-to-gap pop. With 3 years to further develop, Douglas has potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
