Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament This strong RHP has a plus skill-set with 3 quality pitches. FB jumps out of his hand and cracks the mitt at 85 mph. Good glove side lead and drive toward the dish help in command on FB. Delivery can be a little deceptive working to his advantage and keeping hitters off balance. He's aggressive and gets out. At 1B, he shows good prep and smooth hands, fielding the ball athletically. At the plate, this righty gets into a strong loaded position where he's ready to explode. Plus hand-eye coordination and quick bat speed result in hard line-drives. A stocky 2-way player who's strong arm will get his team quite a few "W's" this upcoming season.

07/15/2013 - College PREP - Plano, TX Drake is a big, thick RHP/1B with a strong lower half that will graduate in 2014. Currently, he projects best at 1B for the next level. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by is 7.09 60 time. He utilizes his quick feet well in attacking ground balls and displays proper footwork around the bag. Hands are soft / clean / sure and he is a quality receiver. Throws are accurate, with life and on line carry into his target. At the plate, Adair shows an athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He displays superior power at the plate with the baseball exploding off his bat when centered. He will hit and hit with power at the next level. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 82-84 mph. Changeup is his best off speed pitch, displaying a solid feel for with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with early gradual break. He throws a slider with tight spin but no real shape. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Drake has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
