10/01/2014 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Drake showed consistency in his game at the AZ Freshman / Sophomore Fall Classic with Baseball Factory. Defensively behind the dish, he sat low and anticipated down to block. His glove got deep at times to receive but velocity was not high enough to outmatch the inconsistency. In the infield, he made plays with with good ability and threw with accuracy. He will benefit from speed/agility drills and from promoting his hands further in front by bending further with his knees. Offensively, he was aggressive to attack the fastball and demonstrated some pull side pop. He struggled with finding the proper timing / rhythm and needs to continue to work to improve those aspects for harder contact. All in all - Drake is a very polite kid that works hard and has a bright future with more work.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
