11/03/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - Plano (DFW), TX Drake is a young LHP/1B prospect who will graduate in 2024. On the mound, Drake gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a free arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Drake shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 61mph. Breaking ball sits from 43-46mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 52-54mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Driving his lower half more can help Drake improve as a pitcher. In the field, Drake shows active footwork and gets into an athletic position, fielding with soft hands. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws on-line to his target. Making a quicker exchange can help Drake improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and takes his stride on time. He drives his lower half through well and makes solid contact to his pull side. Drake can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With five more years to develop, Drake has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
