01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Drake improved already exceptional skills during the UA Pre-Season. He ran his best 60 to date at 6.64 seconds, increased arm strength to 96 MPH, and exit velocity to 91 MPH. At SS, Drake has loose/athletic actions, agile range, and fields out in front of his body. He fields smoothly, his exchange is clean, and throws with plus strength and accuracy to his target. Offensively, Drake has good physical strength, fast bat speed, and a makes hard/level contact. He centers well, swings on plane, and hits hard to all fields. Drake has a very bright future ahead of himself and we look forward to seeing what the future holds.

06/20/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Houston, TX Drake is a very talented 2-way player who continues to show well. Offensively, this athletic RHH has centered balance with a solid base. He whips the barrel with speed, pulling the pitch on the inner 1/2 with pop (exit velocity = 80 mph). Behind the dish, he sits in well with athletic actions and sway. Footwork is quick as he gets around pitches in the dirt and centers/deadens them off of his chest. Exchange is quick with pop times now at 2.15. On the mound, Drake has a repeatable delivery and throws strikes. Arm works loose and free and he commands his FB well. FB now tops out at 77 mph with good run. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with good action. Drake has a high ceiling with a very bright future ahead of him in the game.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Drake continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he has improved the most through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path through an aggressive approach. He works to keep his hands inside the ball to utilize all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more efficiently. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.35. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving/blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a great teammate and is very coachable. Drake has a promising future on the diamond.

06/16/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Houston, TX Drake is a two-way player (C/RHP) that showed good ability in his first Baseball Factory outing. Behind the dish, he was efficient with his feet and strong with his body control - sitting quietly. He received with soft hands in front and used his feet to throw with a quick arm - flashing pops in the 2.4 range. Offensively, he hit with direct hands and a flat path. He had some good pop at contact and was accurate to get the barrel there. On the hill, he threw three pitches from the high 3/4 arm slot. He topped out at 65 MPH with his FB and showed some ability to mix in a CB and CH. Overall - Drake is a young player (2021 graduate) that has time to strengthen and hone his fundamentals for high school play.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
