Official Scouting Report

  • 4Class Rating
  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Drew is a skilled and athletic (6'0"/175) 2-way player (OF/LHP) who showed very well during his time at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. In the OF, he takes a quick first step with solid routes/angles to work with speed into position behind the fly-ball. Hands are soft with a quick/clean transfer to throw from a long/loose arm action. At the plate, Drew displays an athletic setup with centered balance. He tracks pitches out of the pitchers hand and into the zone, waiting for one he likes. Hands are quick generating plus bat speed as he whips the barrel and connects with some pop (exit velocity = 87 mph). On the mound, this lefty has a soldi 3-pitch mix in which to keep hitters off-balance. He has sound mechanics and repeats well. FB tops out at 79 as it has good tail away from RHH's. Changeup has good movement and complements his FB well. Curveball is his best off-speed pitch and is very effective as he has the ability to command it to all parts of the zone. This 2021 2-way prospect has a ton of talent with a bright future ahead of him in the game.

10/03/2018 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Drew is a coachable OF/LHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic. In the field, Drew shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with good carry through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to hard contact and line drives. On the mound, Drew works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 77mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 61-63mph. Changeup sits from 67-69mph. With three more years to develop, Drew has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
