Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

01/30/2022 - All-In Membership - Plano (DFW), TX Drew is a RHP who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and plenty of room to add more strength throughout. On the mound, he has athletic actions with a good feel for pitching. He gets to a good balance position, with eyes on target, and lands square to target. Keeps ball down and throws 3 pitches at 3 different speeds. Throws a FB that sits 75-76mph with good command, a 10/4 shaped breaking ball with some depth, and a changeup with tailing action that he throws with FB arm speed. At the plate, he hits from a crouched and athletic stance. Smooth timing to swing, with activated hands, and shows good barrel control. Gets on-plane early as he squared up baseballs to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 84mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee him having a bright future on the baseball diamond.

01/23/2022 - All-In Membership - Dallas, TX Drew is a class of 2024 C/SS prospect. He shows good athletic ability in all parts of testing. In the infield, he showed the ability to get his feet activated through a quality pre-pitch step. Shows some feel for the game and athletic ability with being able to throw from any arm slot. Does a good job on double play feeds. Fields with his glove presented out front before making a clean exchange. Behind the plate, he showed good footwork and the ability to gain ground on his throw downs. Pop times were as low as 2.09. Does a good job creating angles to block and shows off arm strength with raw velo up to 83 MPH. Does a good job receiving in the center of the pocket with his thumb under the ball. At the plate, he shows a good ability to stay inside the baseball. Does a good job staying balanced and using his lower 1/2 throughout the entirety of his swing. Consistently showed the ability to square up the baseball. Showed some pull-side pop with some power present. Drew is a good prospect with 2 years left to continue to develop before he graduates.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
