01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Drew is an athletic and talented 2019 2-way prospect. In the OF, Drew is on time with his prep step, he reads the ball off the bat, and creates angles to the ball. He works behind balls, creates momentum in his lower half, and makes accurate throws. At the plate, Drew has a middle approach, starts in an open stance, and has a simple load. He controls the barrel and makes consistent hard contact. On the bump, Drew has confidence in all three pitches and battles. His fastball has run, his curveball has a medium break, and he sinks his changeup. Drew gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and rides his back leg toward the plate. Drew is a gamer and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Drew continues to show a promising future on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Range is a plus as reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and zip (89 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 84-87 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable, and plays the game hard.

02/04/2018 - College PREP - Dayton, OH Drew is a tall, lean OF who has a promising future the diamond. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.18. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through balls more with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Drew has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
