07/04/2018 - Under Armour Firecracker Classic 18U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Drew continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. He is an athlete that works hard behind the plate. Behind the plate, feet are quick in gaining ground through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.00 range. Arm strength is outstanding (92 mph velocity) with accuracy and on line carry. He shows a solid setup and sticks balls well in the zone and utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. Working to get stride foot down sooner will aid in improving hitting grade. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable, and plays the game hard.

03/11/2018 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Drew is a strong catcher with good skills. Defensively, Drew has active feet, a low set-up, and soft hands. He has good flexion, blocks well, and has a clean exchange with accuracy from a loose arm to his target. A wider base and more extension on his throws can help catching get better. Offensively, Drew has a square/athletic set-up, quick hands, and he swings in good rhythm. He has good balance, fast bat speed, and he makes square contact to all fields. Drew is a nice prospect offensively and defensively.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
