Exclusive College Recruiting Program A 2-way potential athlete from the state of Texas with physicality, corner IF profile with a power bat and some potential to stick at 3b or easily move to 1b. He shows true potential on the mound with a repeatable delivery and ability to throw strikes with 3 pitches and mixes well. He is continuing to add velocity and as he gets stronger and in better shape a low-mid 80’s FB will show the potential to bump higher to go with a pair of secondary pitches. He ability to provide potential 2-way impact is what makes him intriguing as a prospect, but if he were to switch to just one side the ability on the mound is slightly more advanced than the offensive side as he hits and hits with power, but is limited on the position side to a true corner and more than likely 1b/DH profile.

07/27/2022 - Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Drew continues show improvements in his baseball abilities at the SOUTHWEST 17U TOURNAMENT. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable, allowing his arm action to work clean to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 82 mph. Fastball showed a range of 78-82 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. He competes and shows good mound presence. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through an aggressive hip turn. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/19/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Highland Park (DFW), TX Drew is a RHP/3B who will graduate in 2023. Tall frame stocky build with room to add strength throughout. At 3B, showed fluid and active feet with good agility. Tries to create good angles while centering baseball. Fields from an athletic fielding position with good glove actions. Quick exchange into a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 81mph. Throws were on-line with good momentum towards target. Good touch on his DP feeds. On the mound, he has a projectible frame. Works with good direction towards plate while keeping his eyes on target throughout delivery. Was around the plate with all 4 pitches. Throws a FB that sat 75-78mph, a slider with 11/5 shape, a CB with same shape, and a CH he throws with FB arm speed. SL was a better than the CB and he should decide to focus on one or the other. An adjustment to his CH grip will help with movement. A right-handed hitter, he hits with an upright and open stance. Good hand separation as he takes a square glide step and has a good bat angle at contact. Keeps a flat barrel in the zone for a long time as he hit line drives into both gaps with a bat exit velocity of 78mph during BP. With continued growth and development, we see him having a bright future on the baseball field.

Drew can improve defensively by getting into a lower fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and is smooth getting into his load. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to solid contact to all fields. Drew can improve as a hitter by striding directly towards the pitcher and by driving his lower half more. On the mound, Drew shows a solid delivery as he gathers over the rubber and separate his hands on time. He works inline towards the plate and finishes square to his target. Drew's fastball tops out at 57mph and works to keep it around the zone. Drew can improve as a pitcher by loosening his arm action. With five more years to develop, Drew has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
