10/10/2021 - All-In Membership - Charlotte, NC Drew continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. Defensive abilities are well above average as he takes a quick first step (7.36 60 time) and moves well laterally. He creates angles around the GB with fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry on his throws across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line with gap to gap pop.

04/11/2021 - All-In Membership - Charlotte, NC Drew is a 2022 1B/RHP. Tall frame with strong lower half and room to add more. Primary first baseman, fluid footwork as he worked to get in front of the ball. Soft hands who fields out front and ability to pick out hops. Moves fluidly off the bag and flashes accurate arm to all bags. Good bag awareness and scooped everything thrown his way. Secondary right-handed pitcher who has good setup and pivots off back foot. Gets out in front and drives down with mound with clean mechanics. Eyes on target throughout who shows ability to repeat his delivery. 3 pitch pitcher who works off of the FB. FB showed good tailing action and was up to 72mph. 10/4 shaped curveball and a developing changeup that he threw with FB arm speed and some sink to it. Right-handed hitter starts with an upright and open stance. Simple swing who gets good extension through the point of contact. Showed late bat whip as he hit line drives to all fields during BP. Strength plays with a bat exit velocity of 78mph. With continued growth and development, we foresee him having the opportunity to play at the next level.

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Drew is a coachable 1B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Drew shows efficient footwork and makes the routine plays. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and makes good double play feeds to the SS. Fielding the ball out in front of his body can help Drew improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance with his hands held high. He shows an on time rhythm with a compact swing, leading to solid contact. Drew can improve as a hitter by activating his hands in his load. On the mound, Drew starts with a small rock step and keeps his pitches around the zone. He shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 64mph. Breaking ball sits from 49-50mph. Extending through his release more can help Drew improve as a pitcher. With three more years to develop, Drew has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

08/12/2018 - College PREP - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Drew continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Drew can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With four more years to develop, Drew has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

08/20/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Drew continues to work hard and improve his game at 1B/RHP. Defensively at 1B, he works into an athletic fielding position with active footwork. He comes up with a quick/clean exchange and makes on-line, accurate throws to his target. Continuing to work lower from the ground-up will help to improve skills at 1B. On the hill, this righty keeps his eyes on target with a 3-pitch mix. He delivers a FB that sinks in the zone and a CB with an 11/5 break. He stays directional and extends through with his release. More lower 1/2 drive off of the rubber will help to get even more into his FB. As a hitter, Drew uses a solid approach and has smooth rhythm. He creates power by exploding his lower 1/2 and consistently drives pitches on a line. Only a 2022 grad, Drew is a hard worker who still has a ton of time to develop his skills and physically mature (get stronger).

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Tiger Town Drew is an athletic 2-way player who brings a lot of energy to the field. He hustles at all times and works hard day in and day out. On the mound, this RHP maintains a quick tempo repeating his delivery well. He works the ball to both sides of the zone and throws strikes with his FB consistently (48-50 mph). He has a quick pickoff move and keeps runners close. More glove-side lead/tuck along with extension on his finish will help to improve effectiveness on the mound. At 3B - Drew has quick/active footwork and moves well into a square fielding position. He makes the backhand play smoothly and has a clean transfer/exchange to throw. Continuing to use his entire body to throw by playing through the ball and gaining more ground toward 1B will help to improve his skills at 3B. As a hitter - Drew stands in well with good balance. He takes an aggressive hack, barreling the ball up and driving it back up the middle of the field. Only a 2022 grad - Drew has tools with still a ton of time to develop and physically mature (get stronger).

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
