Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Drew is a young SS/RHP that attended Dodgertown. At SS, Drew shows good prep and athletic actions taking a +1st step to the ball and fields the ball in an athletic and square stance. He fields the ball out in front fielding with soft hands. He gets rid of the ball with accuracy showing the ability to throw from multiple slots. At the plate, Drew sets up in a square stance with loose hands taking a small stride and gets his foot down on time. His barrel gets on plane making consistent contact showing +pop to the pull side but the ability to hit to all fields. On the mound Drew shows a 3-pitch mix with a FB, CB, and a CH. He shows a good presence on the mound starting with a simple starter step and leg lift. Working on not rushing will allow Drew to be more accurate as he works to the plate. He finishes with his stride in line and rotates to the target. Drew has several years to develop, and we look forward to seeing his progress.

07/21/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Fort Wayne, IN Drew is a thin, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Drew has athletic actions, active feet, and he fields low in a square position. He takes good angles to the ball, his exchange is clean, and he throws with momentum and consistency across the diamond. On the mound, Drew has good balance and a loose/quick arm action. He works in good tempo, throws strikes, and finishes in a complete position. At the plate, Drew has a square/athletic set-up, a short/square stride, and good balance. He has good feel for the barrel, he can hit to all fields, and he gets solid extension through the ball. Overall abilities can continue to improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
