01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Duncan is a hardworking LHP/1B who has a projectable build and graduates in 2020. As a left-handed hitter, Duncan has square setup with a centered balance. He takes a good load with a short stride. Duncan is ready to hit with an aggressive approach and stays compact throughout his swing. He consistently produces hard contact. Duncan's strength translates to his swing and he shows pull side power. In the field, Duncan plays with active footwork and an aggressive approach. He has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 slot. His throws are accurate with good strength across the diamond. Overall, Duncan has good upside on both sides of the ball as he continues to progress his game.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Duncan is a solid two way player with a lot of upside. Defensively, at 1B, he can mix his arm slots when throwing, works well around the bag and sport a very strong arm. He fields the ball well out in front and on time after he attacks aggressively. His soft hands will help him continue to be a very good first baseman moving forward. Duncan is a big strong kid and plays very well on the mound as LHP. His size helps him work with very good leverage and he can command 3 pitches very well. His FB and CH have solid arm side run and dive away from hitters naturally. Mixing in a slid 1-7 CB keeps hitters off balance. At the plate, Duncan excels sporting very good power and a natural ability to find the barrel and drive the ball to all fields. His approach and setup are very athletic and he works with a soft and fluid launch and swing. Duncan's advanced skill set mixed with his great work ethic will allow him to make big strides in our game. Expect good things from Duncan in the future.

12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Duncan is an athletic player with a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he is a solid receiver, displaying clean hands and proper footwork around the bag. He shows good mobility and is a field general in the IF. Continuing to develop his foot speed will help to increase lateral range. At the plate, he shows a squared / balanced setup with a solid base. Hands are quick and work through a compact swing path. He has strength in his swing and uses his lower half well with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 4 for 7 with 2 2B. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 69 mph. Control is solid as he attacks hitters, locating to both sides of the plate. He will benefit by continuing to develop his off speed pitches. With 5 years to further develop, Duncan has a lot of potential with a bright future ahead of him in the game.

10/18/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Santa Rosa, CA Duncan is a solid 2-way player as a LHP/1B. On the mound, this lefty has an effective 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot and loose/free arm action. He works to a controlled balance point, stays directional toward the plate and repeats his delivery well. FB ranges from 64-68 mph as he pounds the zone with strikes. Curveball shows 2/8 shape with 'slider' like tendencies. Changeup has slight cut - as he throws it with FB arm speed. At 1B, Duncan shows active footwork as he is aggressive to come and get the GB. He makes the backhand play smoothly and is sure handed with the ability to pick it. Offensively, this LH swinger shows a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He whips the barrel to and through the zone connecting with strength. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Lower 1/2 drive
3. Finish with extension
Infield
1. Lower fielding position
2. Footwork around the 1B bag
Offense
1. Contact points
2. Relax/loosen grip
3. Widen base

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
