11/02/2013 - 2013 Under Armour Futures Series Texas Durbin is an interesting 2-way prospect with the unique combination of ability both on the mound and behind the plate. As a defender he shows a clean exchange on throws to 2B with on-line carry and was accurate with workout times as low as 1.88. He sits low showing off flexibility and has sure hands. He is also solid on balls in the dirt. At the plate Durbin has a simple, repeatable stroke with a level path. He hits the ball with authority and uses the entire field. He has some present strength that leads to hard contact. As a pitcher Durbin features a fastball with excellent downhill plane. It sat 85-87 during the game, but it looks like there is more velocity in the tank. His arm is clean and quick and he gets tight rotation on his breaking ball that has good tilt and sharp break. His 2-pitch mix could be very effective in a relief role. Overall, this is a talented young prospect who will be recruited at both spots.
