07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Dustin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Fastball shows a range of 74-77 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to develop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

04/08/2018 - College PREP - Hattiesburg, MS Dustin is a tall and athletic 2020 2-way prospect. At SS, Dustin active pre-pitch movement and has a quick first step to the ball. He presents a low/early glove, works from the ground up, and funnels the ball into his exchange. At the plate, Dustin starts in a tall stance and is aggressive on the fastball. He shows pull side pop and drives the ball gap to gap. On the bump, Dustin gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and rotates toward his target. Dustin will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
