Official Scouting Report

  • 3BPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Dustin continues to show a tremendous future on the diamond. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with zip across diamond but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he utilizes his lower half well with gap-to-gap pop.

11/11/2018 - Interactive Video Program - East Hampton (Hartford), CT Dustin is a young, athletic, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Dustin has fluid feet, agile movements, and he fields in a low/athletic position. He moves well to the ball, his exchange is quick, and he throws with carry and momentum across the diamond. On the mound, Dustin stands over the rubber well balanced, he has a clean arm circle, and gets good extension on his pitches. He has a simple overall delivery and finishes in a complete position. At the plate, Dustin has a square set-up, good balance, and he keeps his hands inside the ball well. He swings on plane, makes square contact, and works it gap to gap. Dustin can further improve skills with work on the following.

Infield
1. Throw downhill
2. Raise arm slot
Pitching
1. Glove side lead
2. Off-speed
Offense
1. Lower body
2. Rhythm
3. Stride

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
