01/16/2012 - College PREP - Tucson, AZ Dylan is a thin and athletic looking two-way player that will graduate in 2013. In the OF, he shows an aggressive approach to the ball, has a good first step, he takes good routes to the ball and is sure handed. He stays behind the fly ball well, he has a clean exchange to throw and he makes accurate throws to his target with good carry. He needs to try and get more consistency fielding the groundball and stay on top of the ball while throwing. At the plate, he makes consistent contact, has a level swing path and gets good use of his lower half. A better pre-pitch load, a wider stance and more bat speed will continue to help his offensive game. On the mound, he keeps his eyes on target, he gets good glove arm action, and he maintains solid balance throughout the delivery. At times, he tends to fall off to the third base side. He needs better tempo in his windup and he needs to continue to develop arm strength. With his delivery, he is more of a relief pitcher at this time. Dylan is athletic and with continued hard work and more strength, he will be a player to follow this spring and summer for the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
