02/04/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Dayton, OH Dylan continues to show a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.19 range as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone but needs to widen his base in stance / setup. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall, open setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work to and through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered.

08/06/2017 - College PREP - Dublin (Columbus), OH Dylan showed improvements in several areas during his last workout in Dublin, OH. Radar velocity increased to 76 MPH, exit velocity to 83 MPH, as well as defensive and hitting grades spiked. Behind the plate, Dylan presents his glove well, hands are firm, and he gets rid of the ball quickly to 2nd base. He keeps the ball in front when blocking, gains momentum toward his target, and throws with good direction to his target. Offensively, Dylan swings in good rhythm, he has solid balance, and flashes some pop to the pull side. He has fast bat speed, uses his lower body, and can hit hard to the pull side.

08/07/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Dublin (Columbus), OH Dylan continues to work hard on his skills. Behind the dish, he sits in well with athletic actions. He gains ground toward 2B with a clean exchange to throw - pop times now at 2.15. Continuing to strengthen his arm (long toss) will help pop times to drop. As a hitter - Dylan has a balanced/square setup with smooth rhythm to load. He barrels the ball up and drives it back up the middle of the field. Swinging on a shorter/more direct path with increased bat speed will result in more power. This 2020 grad is very talented and has a ton of upside as he continues to physically mature.

12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Dylan is a hard worker who is very coachable. He showed well during his time at the Winter Classic. Behind the plate, he sits in well with a solid base and presents a low target. He works hard around pitches in the dirt and bodies them up. Transfer/exchange is clean with accurate throws down to 2B - pop times now at 2.24. Continuing to work on his receiving technique (framing) will help to improve his skills behind the dish. Offensively, Dylan shows an athletic setup with good balance. He tracks pitches into the zone and waits for his pitch. Barrel delivery is level as he connects and hits line-drives (3 singles at the event). Improving his rhythm to load will help to improve timing and contact consistency. Dylan has upside with still a ton of time to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
