Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

09/28/2011 - Under Armour Fall Classic - 2011 Dylan is a strong-bodied dual position guy as a RHP/OF. In the OF, Dylan takes good angles to balls and gets the ball back in the infield quickly with a good long hop to the base. He will become more consistent with his fielding as he learns to play lower and through the ball. At the plate, he demonstrated a level path to the ball with quick hands. He can grow as a hitter as he learns to work downhill and through the ball. On the mound, Dylan has a good repeatable delivery that allows him to throw a lot of strikes with good downward movement. He needs to work on his balance throughout his delivery. Dylan is a good kid who currently projects more strongly on the mound, though he can help a team at both positions.

01/14/2011 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2011 Dylan continues to show solid across the board, performing well both on the mound and in the OF during the Pre-Season All-America. He is aggressive with his FB which touched 86 MPH. Dylan works in a quick tempo, repeats his delivery and mixes his pitches well. He has good balance, level shoulders and lands in a square fielding position. In the OF, Dylan has playable hands and feet and he moves to the ball athletically. He is aggressive to the ball, plays through properly and gets good momentum toward his target. Dylan follows his throws and delivers the ball accurately to his target. At the plate, Dylan has good balance, bat speed and gets good extension to and through the ball. His hands are quick to the ball, he gets good hip coil, and he puts the ball in play. Dylan has potential to be a two-way player at the next level.

12/27/2010 - Christmas Camp and Tournament 2010 - Session 2 Dylan is a young two-way player on the mound plus in the OF with a strong, athletic frame that is well suited for his positions. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.39 60 time as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls in the OF as he works to get behind balls as he plays through well with momentum to his target. He gets his body into a proper position to make strong throws with hands and feet working well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Throws display life, carry, and accuracy as he displays outstanding arm strength. Offensively, Dennis shows a balanced approach allowing his hands to work directly to and through the baseball displaying extension. Hands are quick, generating bat speed as he shows a feel for the barrel with ball jumping off his bat when centered. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 81-86 mph with arm side run on a slight downhill plane. Breaking ball is best off speed pitch displaying 11/5 shape, tight spin, and late breaking action. Changeup shows average feel for with fading action. He attacks hitters, throwing strikes with all his pitches and changes speeds well. With 2 years to further develop, Dylan has an upside with the makings to possibly be a solid two-way player as he continues to improve. He will get looks from the collegiate coaches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
