Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

02/11/2018 - College PREP - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Dylan is an athletic, tall (6'1, 160) well-rounded two-way prospect. He shows the arm action and mechanics that give him potential to develop three above average pitches to carve through a lineup. He currently features a tailing FB at 81mph, a sharp 11-5 CB and a CH with late run. He gets good whip on release that leads to late movement as he pounds the zone and works ahead of hitters. At the dish, his lower half works well to generate bat speed and pull side pop. He shows good hand-eye coordination and can get the barrel to the ball and extend through contact. Shortening his bat path will lead to more consistent square contact. In the outfield, he gets good jumps and is aggressive getting to the ball. He gets behind the ball to field square and play through with momentum to his target. Dylan is an intriguing prospect we expect to have a successful senior campaign.

10/25/2017 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Dylan continues to show the makings of a special type player as he continues to improve his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.20. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved, now showing well above average through an open / athletic setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel. At the event, he was 3 for 6 with a 2B and 3 BB as he shows a great eye and patient approach. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. Range is a plus as he covers a lot of ground and shows big play potential in the OF. He works behind the baseball and plays through with momentum to his target and gets rid of the baseball quickly. On the bump, he shows a sound / repeatable delivery, working in line and on time allowing his arm to work loose / free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 76-77 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup showing a feel for pitch with arm side run. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters, throwing strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

08/06/2017 - College PREP - Lodi (Sacramento), CA Dylan is a tall, lean built RHP/OF prospect who has a versatile skill set and graduates in 2018. On the mound, Dylan has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He keeps his eyes on his target and stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. Dylan does a nice job rotating with his core towards his target as he finishes. He commands his fastball with great movement showing arm side run. He also commands a sharp breaking curveball and deceptive changeup with movement. In the field, Dylan plays with quick footwork and an aggressive approach covering good ground. He presents his glove and fields the ball athletically with a clean exchange. Dylan plays with good momentum through the baseball showing consistently online throws across the diamond. He has a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. Offensively, Dylan has an athletic stance with a firm front side and centered balance. He takes a square stride and shows fast bat speed. Dylan gets extension at contact producing square contact. He is a line drive type hitter who can drive the ball to each gap. Overall, Dylan is a well-rounded prospect who has skill on both sides of the ball and high upside to get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
