06/19/2017 - College PREP - Katy (Houston), TX Dylan is an athletic built C/OF prospect who has a versatile skill set and graduates in 2018. As a right-handed hitter, Dylan has an athletic stance with a centered balance. He has fluid rhythm with a good load and long stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Dylan shows explosive bat speed with a direct, on-plane swing path producing hard contact. He has the ability to spray the ball to all fields and it jumps off his barrel. Behind the plate, Dylan has a low, athletic setup with a presentable target and good base. He moves well laterally and does a nice job blocking the baseball as he is quick to recover. Dylan has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. In the outfield, Dylan plays with active footwork and good body control taking the correct angles to cover good ground. He presents his glove and fields the ball athletically in a square position. He has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. Dylan plays with good momentum through the baseball and his throws are online with good strength. Overall, Dylan has a well-rounded skill set on both sides of the ball and the upside to take his game to the next level.

05/07/2017 - College PREP - College Station, TX Dylan continues to show some improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date at 7.04. At the plate he has improved his power potential through a closed setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the low 2.20 range as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength. Hands are soft/sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process but will benefit by working to get his body down sooner. In the outfield, feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft and he presents well, utilizing two hands through the process.

11/27/2016 - College PREP - Tyler, TX Dylan is a (5'9"/160) RHH catcher who graduates in 2018. Defensively, he sits in well with flexion and tracks in pitches into a soft mitt. He has quick actions, gains momentum toward 2B and has a clean exchange to throw - pop times remain in the low 2's. He moves well laterally and bodies up pitches off of his chest, keeping the ball in front. As a hitter, May shows an athletic setup with centered balance. He gets loaded, swings on a level path and squares the ball up. Relaxing/loosening his grip and engaging more of his lower 1/2 will help to take his offensive game to the next level. Dylan is a skilled catcher who should find success on the diamond.

10/23/2016 - College PREP - Conroe (Houston), TX Dylan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. He displays proper footwork to throw, gaining ground and finishing to his target through a quick release. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.06. Receiving/blocking tools show as playable tools that will play well at the next level as he continues to develop and get more reps. At the plate, he has improved his power potential through a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He has pop in his bat with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
