06/24/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Dylan continues to show a bright future on the diamond. At the plate is where he continues to show best through an athletic / open setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a big receiver, displaying clean hands. He works to square ground balls up through an aggressive approach. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 76 mph. Fastball showed a range of 73-76 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is extremely coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

04/09/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Plano (DFW), TX Dylan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, power potential has really improved. He has strength in his swing (91 mph exit velocity) with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered. Hands stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and consistently finds the barrel. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is firm but will benefit by presenting more out front. Feet are active as he attacks balls, playing through well. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 68-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He throws a split finger with loose action. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/04/2016 - College PREP - Crowley, TX Dylan is a thick, solid RHP/1B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best with solid power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft / sure but will benefit by presenting more out front. He shows a solid backhand with range improving as he increases foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-74 mph. Breaking balls displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his split finger pitch with good sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Dylan has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
