09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Dylan continues to shine on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times showed in the 2.20 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-75 mph. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/15/2019 - College PREP - Madison (NYC), NJ Dylan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.29 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared, athletic setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-70 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He throws a cutter that resembles breaking ball. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength.

07/26/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Dylan is a big C/RHP that will graduate in 2021. Catching, Dylan sets up in a relaxed stance with his glove presenting a good target. To 2B, Dylan replaces his feet with a clean exchange. He could improve here by making the transfers a little quicker. Blocking, Dylan creates good angles and keeps a firm chest to keep the ball in front. At the plate, Dylan sets up square with high hands with a square stride as he rotates against a firm front. He rotates his core well and shows good pop to the pull side. On the mound he shows a good presence with a 2-pitch mix. He shows good foundations separating his glove on time and accelerating towards the plate finishing rotation. Getting a stronger front side would help Dylan be more consistent. Dylan played hard and improved over his time at Pirate City.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
