Official Scouting Report

03/17/2019 - College PREP - Ashburn (DC), VA Dylan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. Range is a plus as he utilizes his quick feet well, covering a lot of ground. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a closed setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Dylan has the makings of a special type player as he continues to progress his game.

02/23/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Hitting Weekend (Ages 14-18) Dylan is an athletic and talented 2021 2-way prospect that was eager to learn. On the bump, Dylan has a good work ethic and features three pitches. His fastball has run, his slider has a medium break, and his change up sits at 69 mph. He separates on time, shows confidence in his fastball, and has a loose arm action. He needs to continue to find a balance point over the rubber and work north to south in his delivery. At the plate, Dylan starts in an athletic stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He finds the barrel, attacks the inside part of the ball, and has fast hands. He needs to continue to create backside drive with his lower half and keep his head down at contact. Dylan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
