02/18/2019 - College Recruiting Day - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Easton continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and is a prospect on the diamond. At the plate, hitting / power potential is now outstanding through an open setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.18. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness.

02/19/2018 - College PREP - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Easton is a talented C/3B prospect who has a versatile skill set. Offensively, Easton has a square, athletic stance with his weight on his toes. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and a short stride as his lower half leads his swing. Easton has an on-plane swing path and gets extension at contact. He has strength in his swing producing hard contact. Easton shows raw power to the pull side. Behind the plate, Easton has a solid setup and stays square to the pitcher. He receives the ball with a firm glove and has a quick exchange. He has good momentum through his release showing consistently online throws down to 2B. In the field, Easton plays with effective footwork and covers good ground. He takes the proper angles to field the ball in a square position with firm hands. Easton has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from an over the top arm slot. He plays with momentum through the ball showing consistently strong throws. Overall, Easton has a well-rounded game with skill on both sides of the ball.

08/02/2017 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Easton is a C/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times 2.25 - 2.35 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft and he sticks in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. At the plate, he shows a tall, athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 67-70 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run but throws too hard to fastball velocity. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Easton has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
