07/09/2019 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Easton is a coachable LHP/1B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the California Select Training & Competition. On the mound, Easton gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a quick arm and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Easton shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph. Breaking ball sits from 62-65mph with 1-7 break. Extending through his release can help Easton improve as a pitcher. In the field, Easton shows efficient footwork and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. Easton can improve defensively by getting into a lower fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a controlled stride. He is fluid getting into a simple load and works to barrel up the baseball, leading to solid line drives. Taking a shorter swing path can help Easton improve as a hitter. With three more years to develop, Easton has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.
