12/10/2021 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Eddie continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the Academic All-American showcase. He only showed on the mound. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 70-74 mph on a downhill plane. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows good mound presence and competes on the bump. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap to gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 3 for 5 with 3 BB.

03/13/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - MD (MS) Eddie is a strong RHP/1B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Spring Pro Training Experience. On the mound, Eddie works with a quick arm and accelerates through his release. He stays inline toward the plate and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Eddie shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph. Breaking ball sits from 58-61mph with good movement. Changeup sits from 63-64mph. In the field, Eddie shows efficient footwork and centers the ball in the middle of his body. His exchange is clean and he makes strong throws through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a controlled stride. He works to barrel up the baseball and drives the ball from gap to gap with authority. With four more years to develop, Eddie has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Academic All-American Tournament (MS) Eddie continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, he shows a controlled / repeatable delivery that allows his arm action to work loose and free to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date. Fastball showed a range of 72-76 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters, working both sides of the plate. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap to gap pop. At 1B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. He is a quality receiver at the bag, displaying proper footwork. Glove action is and presents well out front.

02/29/2020 - Baseball Factory Mid-Atlantic Offensive Skills Training - Columbia, MD (Ages 12-14) Eddie is a hard working and coachable player who continues to make great strides on the diamond. On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix in which to keep hitters guessing. He works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and keeps his eyes on the target at all times. He works his FB to both sides of the plate as it has slight tailing action - topping out at 70 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape and will have more effectiveness when he becomes more consistent with his release point. More glove-side lead and lower 1/2 drive will help to add even more velocity to his FB. Battista is a gamer who will only continue to improve.

03/02/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching & Catching Weekend (Ages 12-14) Eddie is a coachable RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Accelerated Training Weekend. Eddie shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 60mph. Changeup sits from 50-52mph. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Eddie improve as a pitcher. With six more years to develop, Eddie has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
