12/10/2021 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Nakia is a 2022 graduate out of Ballinger, TX who continues to shine in his baseball abilities at the Academic All-American showcase. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Throws are accurate with carry to his target. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, driving the ball to all parts of the field. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 80 mph. Fastball shows a range of 77-80 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Nakia as he enters his senior baseball season.

10/17/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Grapevine (DFW), TX Nakia is a 2022 prospect out of Ballinger, TX. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date at 6.85. At 1B, he displays smooth/athletic actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, power potential has improved through a tall setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach, flashing gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

04/25/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Midland, TX Nakia is a 2022 1B. Athletic build with physicality to the build and room to develop. Primary 1B, active footwork who flashes defensively. Tries to create fielding angles with a low funnel. Showed a quick arm with an over-the-top release point. Showed good bag awareness and ability to scoop balls. Accurate/on-line throws, with good carry, and an arm velocity of 83mph. Right-handed hitter sets up with an athletic and open stance. Square stride, with smoothness to swing, with small load and short barrel path. Strong swing with ability to deliver the barrel to ball. Hard line drive contact with a bat exit velocity of 75mph. With continued growth and development, we can see Nakia having opportunities to play at the next level.

12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Nakia continues to shine on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will continue to increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a compact swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Nakia.

12/16/2018 - College PREP - El Paso, TX Nakia is an athletic 1B/C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At 1B, Nakia fields in an athletic position and makes the routine plays. He makes good double play feeds to 2B, keeping them on-line to his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Nakia improve as a 1B. Behind the plate, Nakia presents a good target to the pitcher and tracks the ball well. He works hard to block and works to make accurate throws to 2B. Nakia can improve as a C by sitting in a lower primary stance. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He shows fluid rhythm and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to line drives and gap to gap pop. Working more of a load into his swing can help Nakia improve as a hitter. With four more years to develop, Nakia has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/20/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Eduardo is a coachable 1B prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Winter Classic. In the field, Eduardo fields the ball in a low position and makes the routine plays. He shows decent footwork around the bag and presents a good target. Eduardo can improve defensively by fielding the ball out in front of his body. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load well and comes through with his lower half. He produces fast bat speed through the zone which leads to hard contact and solid pop to his pull side. Eduardo can improve as a hitter by taking a more level swing to the ball. With four more years to develop, Eduardo has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
