Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • OF/2BPosition Projection

06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Edward is a well-rounded OF/2B prospect who has a strong build. As a right-handed hitter, Edward has a square setup with a centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and short, square stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Edward maintains a still head and is short to the ball. He has an on-plane swing path producing hard contact. Edward is a line drive type hitter who has a middle of the field approach. In the field, Edward plays with effective footwork and tracks the ball well. He presents his glove and fields the ball in an athletic, square position with soft hands. Edward has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from an over the top arm slot. His throws are accurate with good strength. Overall, Edward plays the game hard and has the right approach on both sides of the ball giving him a bright future on the diamond.

05/20/2018 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Edward is a solid, strong OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays well above average defensive abilities and utilizes his feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work to and through level swing path. He has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Edward has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
