01/12/2024 - 2024 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Edward showed as a prospect at the All-America Pre-Season Tournament. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / easy actions. He shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a quick exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. Range is a plus as he utilizes his foot quickness (6.8 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding power potential through an athletic setup. He gets his hands activated in his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with bat speed (85 mph exit velocity), leading to loud contact through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through an aggressive hip turn. At the event, he was 4 for 10. Edward has a big upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

03/26/2023 - National Showcase - Delray Beach, FL Edward continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.85 runner. In the OF, feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind ball and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Edward showed well in his baseball abilities at the Pirate City event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.05 runner. In the OF, he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (84 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/10/2021 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Edward continues to shine with baseball abilities at the Academic All-American showcase. At the plate, he displays well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential through a squared, athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half work well through the swing as he transfer weight into a firm front side and shows a feel for the barrel.

06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Edward is an athletic OF/1B prospect who showcased his skills during the All-State Tournament. In the field, Edward shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He gets into a square position and fields with a firm glove. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate/on-line through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth to load and gets good extension through the ball, producing strong contact. Overall, Edward is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Tons of very good things to say when talking about Edward Wood III (Royal Palm Beach, FL). This 2024 Outfielder showed massive potential both defensively (also plays 3B) and at the plate. Roams to OF very well, has good glove technique, footwork and doesn't hesitate to exchange cleanly to get the ball sharply (81mph arm velo) to his target(s). Loved his presence at the plate. Barrels everything, creates hard contact on anything in the hitting zone. A great body sequence and swing path allow him to create good backspin and carry the ball into the gaps. Can get into scoring position with 1 swing of the bat so here is a player to keep our eye on as he matures and gets closer to the collegiate level.

12/11/2020 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Edward continues to shine on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Edward is a talented/athletic OF prospect who shined during his time at the All-Region Tournament. With the bat, this righty stands in with a square/athletic setup with centered balance and fluid rhythm to load. Quick hands whip the barrel to and through the zone with + bat speed. He engages his lower 1/2, squares the ball up and creates hard contact. The ball jumps off of his bat when centered (exit velocity = 81 mph). Wood has the skill-set that will make an impact in this only his Freshman year. He's one to watch over the next few years.

07/23/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Edward is a coachable OF/3B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Edward shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. Following his throws can help Edward improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is controlled getting his hands activated in his load and remains centered in his lower half. He takes a smooth swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact and gap to gap pop. Edward can improve as a hitter by keeping his head still throughout his swing. With four more years to develop, Edward has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Edward continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he has improved the most with both hitting and power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

05/27/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Jupiter, FL Edward showed upgrades all over the diamond during his last workout with The Factory. He raised velocity to 63 MPH, ran his fastest 60 to date at 8.15 seconds, and showed hitting and power improvements. In the OF, Edward tracks well, makes plays, and keeps the ball in front of his body. He has a clean exchange, and throws with good direction from a long arm action to his target. At 3B, Edward tries hard, makes plays, and has a clean exchange with some consistency to his cut off man. At the plate, this RHH has a square stance, he tracks well, and flashes good bat speed. He makes solid contact, hits hard to the pull side, and he uses his lower body. Work on the following can help skills continue to get better.

08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 12-14) Edward is a versatile IF/OF prospect who shows baseball IQ and toughness. He has feel to hit with sound swing mechanics and plate vision that allow shim to pick out a pitch to drive. He has a quiet head during his swing and keeps his hands inside the ball on a level path. He is balanced and smooth through the zone to make consistent, square contact and spray hits to all fields. He covers plenty of ground in the field to show range and get to the ball. He has feel for any position with a high baseball IQ and knowledge of where to be to make plays. A long toss program will increase arm strength moving forward. Edward is an interesting prospect we look forward to following.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Edward continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. In the INF, he displays smooth / clean actions. Hands are clean and present well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but will benefit by playing through with his body. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup and an aggressive approach. Hands are quick and work inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. He stays on plane and makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 5.

11/12/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Davie, FL Edward is a 2B/OF who will graduate in 2024. Defensively at 2B, he presents his hands and tracks GB's well into his glove. He tries to work around the ball and makes accurate throws to his target. In the OF, he takes a good prep step and is aggressive to the fly ball. He tries to work behind the ball and fires throws that are on-line to his target. With the bat, Edward shows a square setup with smooth rhythm. He gets good extension as he swings on a direct path through the zone and sprays pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
