06/10/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One Florida Edwin is a talented backstop that showed plus athleticism in his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. Defensively, he sat well with good flexibility and received with soft hands. He was quick to block and efficient to exchange and throw with quick feet. He sat in the low 2 range with his pops and has promise with his compact/durable frame. Offensively, he displayed good rhythm and plus hitability. He was quick with his hands and strong at contact, flashing good pop. In all - Muniz has usable tools and a feel for the game that will allow him to play at the next level.

09/21/2013 - 2013 Under Armour Futures Series East - Jupiter, FL Muniz packs a lot of quickness and life into his 5-foot-8 170 pound frame. He ran 6.75 in the 60 yard dash on a slightly soft track, and posted 4.20 down the line from the right side of the plate. He is an aggressive hitter with bat speed and a full move through the zone, he rotated well through contact allowing him to drive through the ball and produce line drives from gap to gap. He did a good job of holding has balance to track pitches and through his swing, allowing him to show good barrel accuracy in both BP and game at bats. Defensively, he was able to sit low behind the plate and showed solid hands to receive. He posted release times between 1.97 and 2.15 thanks to quick feet and athletic actions. Overall, a very talented athlete with speed and quickness throughout his game.

06/12/2013 - Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One Florida Muniz is a quick twitch athlete with strength on his athletic frame. He ran 6.77 in the 60 yard dash, and posted an impressive 4.15 down the line from the right side of the plate. His low pop time was 1.97 in between innings, his workout times were 2.01 to 2.03, and he posted times in games of 2.00 and 2.07. His exchange was quick, as were his feet. Footwork was fluid, and the ball got out of his hand well. He moved quickly and easily down to the ball to block, took good angles on balls to the edges and deadened the ball very well. To receive, he set up with his right side deep and was a little too firm towards the ball with his glove. At the plate, he hit from an athletic crouch and showed good rhythm in his prep action. His approach was from gap to gap, and his stroke was loose with quickness in his hands. He is a line drive type hitter with power potential. Overall, a naturally gifted player with well rounded ability.

02/03/2013 - College PREP - Orlando, FL Edwin is a solid, Catcher with good skills. Behind the plate, Edwin has firm / sure hands, fluid footwork, and his actions are quick. He blocks well, works around the ball, and throws with accuracy and carry to his target. Offensively, Edwin has a square set-up, good balance, and he tracks the ball well. He swings in good rhythm, finds the barrel of the bat, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Hitting can improve with a lower back elbow and a shorter, more level swing.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
