  • SS/OFPosition Projection

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) El Rico is a coachable SS/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, El Rico takes a good first step and displays smooth footwork. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body with sure hands. He makes a two-handed exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with good carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a controlled stride. He gets into a simple load and is explosive driving his lower half through. He takes a short swing with fast bat speed, leading to gap to gap pop. Overall, El Rico is a talented prospect who has the skill set to perform at the next level.

10/14/2018 - College PREP - Hoover (Birmingham), AL El Rico is an athletic 2019 utility prospect with a solid frame. At SS, El Rico is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and works from the ground up. He fields the ball in front of his body, has range on both sides of the glove, and a quick release. In the OF, El Rico is on time with his pre-pitch movement, has a quick first step, and has good routes to the ball. He's aggressive on ground balls and makes strong throws to the plate. At the plate, El Rico starts in a squared stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and creates backside rotation with his lower half. He attacks the inside part of the ball, has an explosive barrel, and drives the ball gap to gap. El Rico will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
