Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

07/08/2018 - College PREP - Portland, OR Eli is a talented switch-hitting C/RHP with a lot of upside. Behind the plate, Eli shows quick feet through an athletic fielding position with soft hands that stick pitches. He shows a quick exchange through a short arm action (3/4 arm slot) and makes quick, accurate throws on a line. Eli shows great mechanics from both sides of the plate. He displays a line drive, pull side approach through a tall, athletic set up and a short, on time stride with a good load. Rhythm is fluid as he keeps his balance center and stays through the ball, leading with his lower half. He makes hard consistent contact with fast bat speed through a direct, on-plane swing path. Eli can improve offensively on both sides be letting the ball travel a little longer. On the mound, Eli throws two pitches (FB and CH) from a 3/4 arm slot. His mechanics are repeatable as he stays direct to his target and throws on a downhill plane. His fastball is tight with a late tailing movement and his change up shows a lot of late run from a fastball arm speed, throwing each pitch for strikes. Eli shows a lot of promise on the diamond, both offensively and defensively, and with more training, he can play at the next level and make an impact.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
