09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Eli continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking balls down. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 80 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break and shows as an outstanding pitch. Control is excellent as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Eli is an athletic OF/RHP prospect who showed well at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. In the field, Eli shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with good backspin through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a crouched stance and takes a controlled stride. He is fluid getting into a simple load and remains centered in his lower half. He takes a smooth swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact to all fields. On the mound, Eli gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Eli shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 79mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 63-68mph with sharp 12-6 break. Overall, Eli is a talented prospect who has the skill set to contribute at the next level.

06/09/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Hoover (Birmingham), AL William is an athletic 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2021. At 3B, William shows fluid footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed, leading to consistent contact and gap to gap pop. On the mound, William gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 77mph. Breaking ball sits from 64-66mph with 12-6 break. Changeup sits from 70-71mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. With two more years to develop, William has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament William is a very talented 2-way player (OF/RHP) who put his skills on display during his time at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. In OF, he works lightly on the balls of his feet taking good angles and is able to track down fly-balls with speed. He secures the ball, works through it well and fires strong/accurate throws on a line (87 mph). With the bat, this righty is a leadoff type of guy with his speed and knack to put the barrel on the ball and get on base. Swing is short and quick to and through the zone as he looks to drive the middle of the field. On the bump, William has a 3-pitch mix coming from a 3/4 arm slot. FB tops out at 80 mph as he works to keep it down in the zone and get ground ball outs. Breaking ball shows to be his best off-speed pitch with 10/4 shape and good action. A splitter rounds out his repertoire as he works it in and out of the zone. Only a 2021 grad - William has a ton of upside and will only continue to develop.

06/10/2018 - College PREP - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Eli is a lean RHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 60 time of 6.95. In the OF, he displays outstanding defensive abilities and utilizes his quick feet well in his lateral movement as he displays range. He works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. At the plate he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work to and through an aggressive swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 73-78 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Eli has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
