Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

07/29/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Eli is a 2017 grad that shows intangible tools that can take him to the next level. In the OF, Eli gets quick jumps to balls with excellent tracking ability. Keeping his arm slot up, throwing with a four-seam grip and playing behind the ball will improve his defensive abilities. On the mound, Eli presents a tall, lean frame with room to grow. He throws from a submarine arm slot with excellent command of 2 pitches. His deceptive delivery and arm whip makes it tough for hitters to pick up the ball. Driving from his legs more and picking up the tempo will increase his pitching stock. At the plate, Eli hits with a simple, consistent swing path. As he loosens up his stance and gets his top and bottom to work together as one, he will see his swing take that next level step that he needs. Overall, Eli competes in between the lines and works hard to get better.

01/25/2015 - College PREP - Delray Beach, FL Eli is a R/R 2-way player as an OF/RHP who has a projectable frame (6'1"/170). In the OF, he has quick footwork as he tracks down fly-balls to his right and left. He works behind the fly-ball and plays through it well with carry on his throws. Offensively, this RHH shows a square setup with patience as he tracks the ball into the hitting zone. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and pulls it with pop, engaging his lower 1/2 throughout the swing. On the bump, Eli throws a FB & CB with an side-arm delivery. He gets good glove-side lead and works in-line toward the dish. FB tops out at 78 mph while showing tail. Breaking ball has 9/3 shape with gradual break. Eli has a solid skill-set that will only continue to develop over the next few years of HS.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
