04/24/2016 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Elias continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He shows a promising future on the diamond, possibly as a 2-way guy. Defensive abilities are now well above average, displaying smooth/fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft/sure as he presents well out front. Hands/feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed (84 mph exit velocity). He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 83 mph. Fastball showed a range of 78-83 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on the pitch. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Elias has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.
