Official Scouting Report

07/29/2017 - Under Armour All-America Game, Powered by Baseball Factory Elijah is a strong, physical young player with some of the easiest bat speed, and subsequent power, in the class. His right-handed stroke produces loud contact with natural lift. The overall tool package is also among the best in the country and he runs well and flashes arm strength from the outfield. The game seems to come easy to Elijah, who is a legitimate run producer. He profiles best as a corner outfielder. Committed to LSU.

09/17/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East A lot has changed since we first saw Elijah back in 2011. At that time he was a switch-hitting catcher - now he is a physical, right-handed hitting outfielder with a strong frame and big power. His swing is simple and quick, and he impacts the ball with ease. Elijah has natural hitting instincts employing a hanging stride and having the ability to let the ball travel deep before pulling the trigger. His is most comfortable using the middle of the field, driving balls gap-to-gap. Defensively, Elijah takes good routes, moves through balls well and has the arm strength to fit nicely in RF. Overall, this is an impact bat with big upside.

07/18/2011 - Interactive Video Program - Orlando, FL Elijah is a young, switch hitting catcher with an athletic build. Behind the plate, Elijah has strong / soft hands, quick / active feet, and good body control. He catches the ball cleanly, moves well side to side, and he covers the 5 hole when blocking. Elijah has a clean exchange, and he throws with a loose arm action with accuracy and carry to 2nd base. At the plate, Elijah has a square set-up, a proper load, and a short stride. He has good balance, quick hands, and fast bat speed. Elijah has a good overall idea at the plate, he swings in good rhythm, and he puts the ball in play. Elijah has potential for his age and can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Widen base
2. Get rid of ball quicker
3. Blocking
Offense
1. Spray ball
2. Barrel accuracy
3. Level off swing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
