10/07/2020 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Elijah continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. Behind the plate, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest, centering balls out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.14 with accuracy and carry (80 mph velocity) on his throws. Offensively, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (85 mph exit velocity) with the ball screaming off of his barrel.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Elijah continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.18 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding power through a squared setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields.

03/01/2020 - College PREP - Wilson, NC Elijah is now a 6'3/210 lbs C/OF that will graduate in 2021. At his most recent outing with Baseball Factory, he showed some of his best ability to date, especially with the bat! Offensively, he had a strong/ athletic setup and smooth rhythm, allowing him to hit with strength at contact with a level path and good extension. His lower half worked through and he generated fast bat speed with his direct path. Behind the plate, he tracked quietly and sticked pitches well with a firm glove. He had short arm action to throw and was accurate around 2B. Continued work to quicken his exchange and strengthen his arm will allow for even more drastic drops in his pop-times. In the OF, he worked with active feet to square himself to the ball and make plays. He carried his hands together to allow for a clean exchange and threw with accuracy to his targets. In all - we see Elijah projecting well behind the plate or in a corner position at the next level, with his ability to his and hit for power!

07/26/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Elijah is an athletic and strong 2021 Catching prospect that made solid adjustments this week. Behind the dish Elijah made significant improvement on his receiving skills. He starts in a quiet primary stance, he presents a low target, and works behind the ball. When throwing he replaces his feet, he has a quick release, and makes accurate throws. Gaining ground and creating momentum with his lower half will improve his throwing efficiency. When blocking he needs to continue to anticipate balls in the dirt and be on time to block. Improving hip mobility will improve his lateral ability to block. At the plate, Elijah starts in a tall stance and has a simple load. He has good rhythm in his load, he hunts the fastball, and swings hard. He needs to be more consistent getting to balance at contact and creating backside rotation with his lower half. Elijah is a hard worker and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/27/2019 - College PREP - Myrtle Beach, SC Elijah is a tall C/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, Elijah sits in a square stance and receives with a firm glove. He centers the ball when blocking and makes accurate throws to 2B. Quickening his exchange can help Elijah improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact to his pull side. Elijah can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter swing. On the mound, Elijah gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate. Elijah shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68mph. Breaking ball sits from 52-53mph with 10-4 break. Changeups sits from 58-60mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. With two more years to develop, Elijah has the time and potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
