Elijah is now a 6'3/210 lbs C/OF that will graduate in 2021. At his most recent outing with Baseball Factory, he showed some of his best ability to date, especially with the bat! Offensively, he had a strong/ athletic setup and smooth rhythm, allowing him to hit with strength at contact with a level path and good extension. His lower half worked through and he generated fast bat speed with his direct path. Behind the plate, he tracked quietly and sticked pitches well with a firm glove. He had short arm action to throw and was accurate around 2B. Continued work to quicken his exchange and strengthen his arm will allow for even more drastic drops in his pop-times. In the OF, he worked with active feet to square himself to the ball and make plays. He carried his hands together to allow for a clean exchange and threw with accuracy to his targets. In all - we see Elijah projecting well behind the plate or in a corner position at the next level, with his ability to his and hit for power!
07/26/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18)
Elijah is an athletic and strong 2021 Catching prospect that made solid adjustments this week. Behind the dish Elijah made significant improvement on his receiving skills. He starts in a quiet primary stance, he presents a low target, and works behind the ball. When throwing he replaces his feet, he has a quick release, and makes accurate throws. Gaining ground and creating momentum with his lower half will improve his throwing efficiency. When blocking he needs to continue to anticipate balls in the dirt and be on time to block. Improving hip mobility will improve his lateral ability to block. At the plate, Elijah starts in a tall stance and has a simple load. He has good rhythm in his load, he hunts the fastball, and swings hard. He needs to be more consistent getting to balance at contact and creating backside rotation with his lower half. Elijah is a hard worker and we hope to see his progress in the future.
