07/26/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Elijah is an athletic and strong 2021 Catching prospect that made solid adjustments this week. Behind the dish Elijah made significant improvement on his receiving skills. He starts in a quiet primary stance, he presents a low target, and works behind the ball. When throwing he replaces his feet, he has a quick release, and makes accurate throws. Gaining ground and creating momentum with his lower half will improve his throwing efficiency. When blocking he needs to continue to anticipate balls in the dirt and be on time to block. Improving hip mobility will improve his lateral ability to block. At the plate, Elijah starts in a tall stance and has a simple load. He has good rhythm in his load, he hunts the fastball, and swings hard. He needs to be more consistent getting to balance at contact and creating backside rotation with his lower half. Elijah is a hard worker and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/27/2019 - College PREP - Myrtle Beach, SC Elijah is a tall C/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, Elijah sits in a square stance and receives with a firm glove. He centers the ball when blocking and makes accurate throws to 2B. Quickening his exchange can help Elijah improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact to his pull side. Elijah can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter swing. On the mound, Elijah gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate. Elijah shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68mph. Breaking ball sits from 52-53mph with 10-4 break. Changeups sits from 58-60mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. With two more years to develop, Elijah has the time and potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
