02/27/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Visalia, CA Elijah is a an athletic framed catcher in the 2024 class. Behind the plate, he continues to improve upon his skills and will keep moving them forward over the next two years as he gets closer heading the to next level. His blocking/receiving ability grade well at his young age. Shows polished technique behind the dish with the ability to move well laterally. As he firms up his receiving ability, the exchange will get quicker and the pop time will benefit from that. At the plate, he works inside the ball and uses the opposite field often. Can square up balls consistently with a smooth and on-plane swing. His line-drive approach will turn into gap-to-gap power as he matures over the next 2 years.

09/26/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Visalia, CA Elijah continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.01 with accuracy and carry (82 mph exit velocity) on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine, now displaying with well above average hitting and solid power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel. With 3 years to further develop, Elijah has the makings of a special type player as he continues to progress his game.

01/03/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Fresno, CA Elijah is a solid prospect at the catching position who continues to progress. Behind the plate, he starts in a low, athletic position with good flexion and sway. He presents a soft target and sticks pitches in the zone, framing well. A quick exchange and short arm action allowed him to record his best pop time to date (2.26). Blocking technique is advanced, as he has great lateral range and agility being on time to balls in the dirt, deadening the ball and keeping it in front. Offensively, the starts with a square setup with good balance and a centered base. He gets his hands back into a strong load/launch position and jumps on pitches he likes. He hits the ball where it's pitched and sprays it to all parts of the field. Utilizing and using his lower half more efficiently will help increase power. Overall, Elijah has upside and a bright future on the diamond.

06/14/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Visalia, CA Elijah is an athletic C/SS prospect who will graduate in 2024. Behind the plate, Elijah is agile moving to block and keeps the ball in front of him. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He throws from a 3/4 angle and works to keep his throws accurate to the 2B bag. Making a quicker exchange can help Elijah improve as a C. At SS, Elijah shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Playing through the ball more can help Elijah improve as a SS. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and gets into his load well. He leads with his lower half and produces line drives to all fields. Elijah can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter stride. With four more years to develop, Elijah has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
