Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/OFPosition Projection

07/25/2018 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Elijah is a lean, athletic, 2-way player who pitches and plays OF. On the mound, Elijah has good mechanics, a clean arm action, and he separates on time. He keeps his eyes on target, has a controlled landing toward home, and he competes in the zone with all of his pitches. More arm extension and better direction toward home will help mound effectiveness improve. In the OF, Elijah has active feet, he takes good routes and angles to the ball, and he fields athletically. He has a quick first step, a clean exchange, and throws with consistency and momentum to his target. Offensively, Elijah has a tall/athletic set-up, he loads well, and he works the middle of the field. He has good bat speed, pop in his bat, and can spray to all fields. A more smooth swing path and a shorter swing can help solid hitting get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
