10/12/2016 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Elijah is a tall/athletic righty throwing, lefty hitting outfielder and pitcher. Offensively, he showed a patient approach to hitting. Working from a tall open stance, he showed good rhythm and balance and an on-time load/stride. Keeping his weight back, to avoid losing power from his back side, will help with pop to both gaps. In the outfield, he showed made strong throws with good carry on them, proper pre-pitch positioning, allowing him to get to balls quickly in the gap and an aggressive approach to fielding ground balls. Also a pitcher, this lefty featured a mid 70's fastball from an over the top arm angle, with clean mechanics that worked downhill, allowing him to keep the ball low in the zone and produce ground balls. With still room to grow and continued hard work, Elijah has a bright future in this game.

08/21/2016 - College PREP - Dickinson, ND Elijah continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with the makings of a special type player. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. He moves well laterally, covering a lot of ground, displaying range. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he has improved, now displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path with late explosion / extension. He has strength in his swing and works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop.

10/14/2015 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Elijah is an active, athletic OF with a projectable/lean frame. In the OF, he fields with sure hands and the ability to play behind the ball, gaining momentum towards his target. He moves well glove-side and can track down fly-balls with speed. In the box, this LHH hits with smooth hands and fluid rhythm. He waits for his pitch, showing patience as he drew 4 walks at the event. He works mainly to the pull side with a contact type swing path. In all, Elijah continues to make adjustments and has a ton of upside on the diamond.

08/16/2015 - College PREP - Dickinson, ND Elijah continues to progress and show well on the diamond. With the bat, this strong lefty has an athletic setup with quiet/simple actions. Hands are quick as he fires the barrel on a direct path to and through the zone. He squares the ball up consistently and drives it to the gaps. In the OF, Jung takes a quick first step with solid routes/angles to the fly-ball. He gathers smoothly and has a quick transfer/exchange to throw. Elijah is a skilled athlete who can make things happen when he takes the field.

12/27/2014 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Elijah showed good plate discipline and a strong work ethic in his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. Defensively, he cut balls off by gaining ground and was sure with his glove. Continuing momentum through fielding will improve arm stroke and carry. Offensively, he displayed leverage to hit and generated decent bat speed. He made adjustments in becoming more aggressive to hit in his counts and worked to stay level with his path. Overall - Jung was a good teammate that went about his work the correct way day in and day out.

08/17/2014 - College PREP - Dickinson, ND Jung continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Defensive grade have improved as well, displaying clean / smooth actions. He utilizes his feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and plays through ground balls aggressively. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to work to get behind fly balls more to play through with momentum to his target and continue to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting and power grades have improved as well through a balanced setup. Hands are loose and he makes consistent contact a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and a solid feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time.

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Elijah showed best as an offensive player in his most recent Baseball Factory outing. In the outfield, he hard to get behind and through balls, and needs to continue to do so - increasing his foot speed will help dramatically. Offensively, he focused to drive the ball oppo and maintained excellent balance. He was very direct with the barrel and through with his lower half. Overall - Elijah showed to be a quiet worker that is beginning to understand the process to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
