Exclusive College Recruiting Program Elijah Shafer is a standout CF who plays for powerhouse, Mt. St Joe HS in Maryland. The kid is a 6.51 runner who really utilizes his speed well. Gets outstanding jumps/reads in OF and has plus range. Does a fantastic job on the bases reading pitchers and stealing bags. Did not get thrown out all summer against tough competition. Strong arm (85 velo) with accuracy. Compact strong build with line drive pop. Uses whole field well and has good bat control. Good student with plus make-up and work habits. His use-able speed makes him very interesting for the next level. an impact defender at a premium position and he lengthens a lineup with his athleticism and ability to do multiple things offensively.

11/01/2019 - College Recruiting Day - Columbia, MD Elijah is a SS prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the field, Elijah makes the routine plays and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Elijah improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a closed stance and takes his stride on time. He works to barrel up the baseball and makes solid contact. Elijah can improve as a hitter by simplifying his load. Overall, Elijah is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/05/2018 - College Recruiting Day - Columbia, MD Elijah is a SS prospect who will graduate in 2023. In the field, Elijah makes the routine plays and works to make accurate throws across the diamond. Getting into a more atheltic fielding position can help Elijah improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an atheltic stance and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing and rotates his core well, driving the ball to all fields. Elijah can improve as a hitter by loosening his grip on the bat. With five more years to develop, Elijah has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.
