12/29/2019 - College PREP - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Eliot is a C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Eliot shows quick footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with soft hands. He makes a quick exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through the 2B bag. Increasing his lateral blocking range can help Eliot improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and is smooth getting back into his load. He takes a level swing and hits against a strong front side, leading to solid pop to his pull side. Eliot can improve as a hitter by maintaining center balance. Overall, Eliot is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

03/25/2018 - College PREP - Middletown (Hartford), CT Eliot is a catcher graduating in 2021. Behind the plate, Eliot shows active feet allowing him to center himself behind the ball and cover ground when making plays. He shows a low, square fielding position as he catches with soft hands that he presents early. Eliot shows a lot of upside with his receiving and blocking skills. He shows a clean exchange into a short arm action, throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He shows consistent accuracy to his targets, using his body's momentum to make his throws. He throws the ball on a line but will benefit from a throwing program to gain more velocity. Offensively, Eliot shows a square set-up and stride to the ball. He shows a good load that moves straight back with a smooth rhythm. He shows a firm front half and creates a direct swing path to the ball, giving him his square contact and line drive approach. Eliot drives through the baseball well and gets extension on his swing after contact. With a stronger base at his finish, he will be able to keep his balance and manipulate the ball even better. With another few years of development and strength from natural growth, Eliot could play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
