01/07/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (AZ) Ellington is a 2024 SS/RHP prospect who showcased his skills at the Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-American Tournament. At SS, he starts in an athletic position, with quick/fluid footwork, and showed ability to close distance on batted balls. He creates good fielding angles as he fields with soft hands out front from an athletic/low fielding position. He plays through the baseball, with quick/clean exchange, and arm velocity up to 86mph. Throws were accurate and on-line with good momentum towards target. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and open stance. Has smooth timing to swing, with good hip rotation, and showed a fast barrel through the hitting zone. Gets on-plane early as he square up baseballs to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 82mph. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and gets good extension out front. In the game, he worked 3 innings and showed a FB that topped out at 80mph with some movement and an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with good depth. Ellington is a solid 2-way prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field with continued development.

09/03/2021 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) Ellington is an athletic SS/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during the All-Region Tournament. In the field, Ellington creates good angles and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate throws across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH is smooth to load and drives through well with his lower half, producing solid contact. On the mound, Ellington gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. Ellington operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 66-72mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 70-72mph with cutting action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Ellington is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Ellington is a SS/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Defensively, he takes a quick first step (7.28 60 time) and has plus lateral range. He creates angles around the GB with fluid actions. DP turns are quick with zip (89 mph velocity) on his throws. Defensive abilities are outstanding as he shows big play potential. At the plate, hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 77-80. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Ellington has a ton of upside and possesses the skill set that will play at a very high level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
