07/26/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Emil is an athletic and talented 2020 catching prospect that worked hard each day. Behind the dish Emil's biggest strength is his ability to receive the ball. He has a quiet primary stance, he presents a low/early glove, and works behind the ball. He works the bottom half of the zone well and has good hands east to west of the zone. When throwing he has room to improve his arm strength and lower body mechanics. He gains ground but needs to create momentum into the ball and exchange the ball in front of his body. Good footwork and accuracy should be his off season focus. When blocking, he does a good job anticipating the ball in the dirt and keeping it in front of him. At the plate, Emil starts in an athletic stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He has controlled rhythm, fast hands, and has a pull side approach. He needs to focus on getting his lower half to balance, create backside drive, and keep the barrel inside the ball. Emil will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
