Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Emilio is now an athletic 6'2/180 lbs prospect that performed well at the UAAAPS Event with Baseball Factory. Defensively in the OF, he prepped his feet and moved actively to make plays. He presented the glove to make plays and had a clean exchange to throw with loose arm action. At the plate, he worked in the middle of the diamond with his approach, and kept a quiet head for strong contact. The highlight of his AB's was a hard shot in the LF gap for an RBI 2B. On the hill, he threw his FB from 76-82, living low in the zone, spun a 10/4 CB with feel from 65-70, and flashed a KN with tumble from 64-67. He stayed around the zone with his pitches and repeated his delivery well. Overall - Emilio is an intriguing two-way guy that appears ready to jump into the season performing at a high level.

07/27/2016 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Emilio is a tall, lean two-way prospect who excites no matter where he plays. He is a very good outfielder with a strong arm and great feel for routes and angles. He is a mature hitter with a patient approach, working the count, and has very good pitch recognition. On the bump, Emilio has three pitches that can get hitters out and that he can command. He pitches downhill and down in the zone to generate a lot of weak contact. Emilio can play anywhere and is an exciting prospect for the next level.

03/13/2016 - College PREP - Plainview (Lubbock), TX Emilio is a very talented (OF/RHP) who has an athletic/strong frame (6'2"/155). With the bat, this lead off type has a knack for barreling the ball up and creating hard/consistent contact. He whips the barrel to and through the zone with plus bat speed and connects with pop, driving the ball on a line (exit velocity = 88 mph). He will be a top of the batting order type with his speed - 6.71 60 yard dash. In the OF, Lovato takes a quick first step and tracks down fly-balls with speed. He works behind and through the ball, gaining ground toward his target. On the mound, this RHP has an effective 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a tall balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a loose/free arm action. FB jumps out of his hand and cracks the mitt - topping out at 84 mph while showing good run. Breaking ball shows 10/4 shape with gradual action. Knuckleball shows to be an effective off-speed pitch as he commands it well. He fills up the zone and throws strikes consistently. Emilio is a skilled prospect who has a bright future ahead of him in the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
